(More customer reviews)This is a nice package for the price.If you're a serious weightlifter and are consistently curling over about 120 lbs, then you'll probably be more interested in a solid bar with Olympic type fittings.For the average person, doing general fitness and strength training this bar is fine.As shown in the picture (which has changed since I bought it) it includes the curl bar, two short bars, and 3 pairs of spring clips - so again a good bargain.

(More customer reviews)The bars are very light and feel cheap when you pick them up. No worries I say, they're CHEAP and I don't want to shell out the Benjamins for real, solid professional equipment. Besides, I'm not running a professional gym; it's just me and my son working out in our home gym.

All goes well until the end piece (where the weight plates sit) on the curl bar pops off with no warning.The force of gravity causes the weights to fall with loud noises, YIKES what surprise. Loud noises, cussing, the curl bar twists violently in my hands (one side is now considerably lighter then the other), dents in floor, etc.No injuries, but certainly could have been broken feet, crushed toes, and serious wrist and forearm injuries from the sudden violent twist when one side unloaded quickly.

Well, now I'm out what I pad for the damn bar and I'm feeling silly to boot. I share my pain only to prevent you from making the same stupid mistake I did.You don't get something for nothing, you get what you pay for, and cheap equipment will cost you more in the long run.

I will now do what I should have done in the first place, namely belly up to the (curl) bar and pay for a solid professional well made curl bar, not this junk.

(More customer reviews)The best bar I ever owned. Don't go for bars that don't come with their own locks because you'll be wasting your money. I once bought a bar said to secure standard weight plates thinking I can use the same locks I used for my dumbbells which also supported standard plates and the bar ended up being like a millimeter short and my locks wouldn't fit it. Yes, standard size bars or locks are not always the same size.

I've had bars that would rust on me in less than a month but this one is holding out. The locks screw on and off so easy, I love it, and I can usually complete two or three workouts before having to tighten them again. It may seem skinny and hard to feel in my grip, but all bars feel that way to me. It sometimes falls too short when I do the overhead press. I'm 6 ft, so if I'm not careful where I place my hands the weight hits the side of my forearm when doing this particular exercise, and my 20lb plates are small, designed for dumbbells. I have the same problem with the bench press. But with everything else (bent over row, upright row, squats, deadlift, or even curls if your wrists can take it) this bar makes a tough workout comfortable.

I use to do everything with dumbbells but I find bars make things so much easier when doing compound workouts using both arms or legs. Especially with bent over rows or presses because I spend less time concentrating on maintaining equal distance between hands and more time focusing on movement, muscle contraction and good form, which is essential in preventing injury.

(More customer reviews)Excellent curl bar with handsome chrome finish and knurled hand grips. The solid steel curl bar is heavy duty and has a compact length of about 4'(48"). Also, 2" diameter collars are included in the price, however I recommend 'spring collars' instead of the 'ring collars' so as not to damage the chrome plating. The 4' length allows you to add a substantial amount of 2" weight plates yet doesn't take up much space in your work-out center or gymnasium.Yes, there IS a substantial difference in a curl bar(versus a straight bar for enhanced bicep development) and I am very pleased and I highly recommend this to complement your other exercise equipment!Overall a great bar at a great price with super-fast shipping, thank you Amazon!

(More customer reviews)This is a nice, sturdy set of weights with good threading. Seems sort of cheesy to say as a set of weights had better be sturdy, but you can tell there is some build quality with these. The paint is heavy, looks to scratch instead of chip off which is good. The collar threads are nice and deep and the collars themselves are chunks of metal - they will never break and they fit nicely on the bars. You end up with 140lbs worth of plates, with the rest of the weight taken up by the bars. Sometimes the collars can get a little loose on the freeweights when doing hammer curls but you're going to see that on any collar based set.

All in all this is a nice base set. 160lbs for ~$100 you can't really go wrong.

(More customer reviews)I have been using these for over a year, and they seem very durable. However, take note that I do take care of them (i.e. I do not drop them onto the ground from high above; instead, I gently lower my hands to the ground before dropping them no more than 4-5 inches off the ground on in-door carpet). They do seem like they can be dropped on concrete just fine too though.

These seem to be constructed well on the outside, but the durability may vary from one set to another because the weights have some kind of powder in them, and a (in my case, well-constructed) plug keeps the powder in.

The clips work well. There are 6 total. Two of the clips are (barely) bigger (but bigger nonetheless) and very strong. These two clips do not slip at all handling the heaviest of weights on this weight set. I use these two clips on one dumbell handle. The other 4 clips are not as strong, but works about as well as the two larger ones when combined. I use 2 of these clips on each side (4 total) of the other dumbbell handle.
