(More customer reviews)I've been keeping my eyes on this product for the last few years thinking it would be the perfect solution for me in my cramped workout area in my home.Finally this Christmas I bought them.Here's what I found:

Pluses:
- Eliminates the need to have many dumbbells.
- The stand was free on a promotion.
- The handle is fairly comfortable.
- Nice variety of weights to choose from.

Minuses:
- Bulky for a dumbbell.
- The weights shift as you are lifting them, making balance an issue.
- Have to adjust not one, but two dials to dial in the correct weight for each dumbbell and you dial them in opposite directions.
- The weights feel like they are about to come off.They didn't for me, but they just didn't feel solid.

Conclusion:
Bottom line on this one is try them before you buy them.They may be great for you, but for me they are awkward and that's why I returned them.I tried out a pair of PowerBlocks the other day and am going to go that route.They are more solid, easier to change weights, and smaller.Plus, the 5-45lb set is way cheaper than the SelectTech's at around $267 with free shipping.

(More customer reviews)I received this last week and have completed all of the workouts.Some critism of two DVD's from another reviewing is noted and while it could have fit on one DVD, how can he charge so much for one, so he put it on two.Bad move, but he's making money.Speaking of which, the price is hefty, but WELL WORTH IT.Yes he stands around and talks, because HE IS YOUR PERSONAL TRAINER with this.Individual training sessions in a gym can cost up to $80/hour.He walks you through and explains the moves instead of doing them so you know you are doing them right.He's fit as can be and focuses his attention on you so you can get the same results.

The enclosed workout schedule offers a mix and match approach from one to three routines matched up daily over 4 weeks with one day off a week.10 min a day for min results, 2 routines (20 min) for improved results, and 3 routines (30 min) for max results.Bands are optional but included.My doors are old and so I use weights and or omit the bands.This system is perfect for me.I also have his p90x and love it as well, but sometimes don't have the time to do it.

You can increase or decrease intensity based on your needs and that's why I like it.For total or lower body, my strength, I push it.For upper body and abs, my weakness, I rest and use his modified moves that he shows you, and I can still feel it.YOU CAN GROW WITH THIS PROGRAM and that's why it's pretty cool.Busy, one 10 minute workout and you'll feel it.More time, then do two or three.

As usual for most every workout, the warm up and cool down are short, so I always do it twice or just keep going on my own.Also, his Yoga is a combo of simple yoga for stretching and can be done daily as it really improves flexibility.I can't believe I wrote this much about the program after one week, but it got me off my butt and working out again after I moved and have not worked out in about three months.A+ Tony...and THANKS!

(More customer reviews)I've only had this product for several days, but it has been good so far for my P90x/30 day shred workouts.The one thing I found annoying about the product description is that they didn't have the weights that the bands equaled, so I put them here:

Yellow: 2-5 lbs
Green: 5-8 lbs
Red: 8-12 lbs
Blue: 12-16 lbs
Black: 16-20 lbs

These bands are perfect for toning, although if you are into muscle building, I wouldn't recommend this product, and would suggest purchasing dumbbells instead.

Also, customer service was extremely good.I couldn't find the door anchor at first since it was in the package with the green band (which I didn't use because I use the blue/black bands), but customer service replied to me within the hour with a concerned and courteous attitude.

(More customer reviews)I really like this product because it is compact and not as cumbersome as the larger sets.For most people, this will suit their needs and they can get an upgradable set later on.The small size allows almost everyone to perform conventional exercises with proper form.With the larger PowerBlocks, this is a concern because of added bulk and length.

The square shape of these dumbbells allows the manufacturer to put more weight in a smaller place.This makes these much smaller than other rounded adjustable dumbbells over the same weight range and increments.

From a safety perspective, I also think these are the safest and most rugged adjustable dumbbells.However, this does not mean that nothing can go wrong.You need to be conscious of inserting the pins straight across and the pin mechanism right side up so the magnets engage to hold the pins together.There is a also a backup elastic band to prevent a plate from falling, but this might not save you in an overhead triceps extension.

This product is rugged and well made.It is less likely to break then some other brands and the concept is simple behind how the adjustments work.In other words, there are less things to break or go wrong and I believe these can take a fairly hard fall and still be fine.I haven't dropped mine, but I base this assumption on the way they are designed and the quality of the materials and how they are put together.

I would definitely purchase these if you do circuit training and want to keep your pulse up.If you become serious, you can buy an expandable set over a larger range later.This is great entry point product.
